Nine McCallie Athletes Sign Letters Of Intent

  • Thursday, November 29, 2018
Nine McCallie School student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent or announced college commitments November 28 in the Bill Cherry Team Room on campus.

Six lacrosse players signed intent letters to Division I programs including Ellison Burt-Murray, Rutgers University; Cameron Henry, Duke University, Wyatt McVay (Chattanooga), Furman University; Zach Musial, Bryant University; and Nick Jessen (Signal Mountain) and Ian McCauley, Lafayette College.

Henry and Jessen were 2018 US Lacrosse All-Americans, Jessen as an attack, and Henry as a defenseman.
Henry was the defensive player of the year in the state for Division I. Burt-Murray, Musial and McCauley were All-State selections, as were Henry and Jessen.

The McCallie lacrosse team concluded last season as the state runners up in the Tennessee Scholastic Lacrosse Association’s highest division.

Senior swimmer Jake Marcum, from Ooltewah, signed to continue his academics and athletics at Division I program Indiana University, alma mater of McCallie swimming coach Stan Corcoran. Marcum was an All-American in 2018 and set the school records in the 100-meter backstroke and as a member of the 400-meter freestyle relay team.

Golfer Jake Levine and baseball player Chad Marsh, both of Chattanooga, committed to play golf at Rhodes College and baseball at Trevecca Nazarene University respectively.

Marsh earned All-State accolades last baseball season as the team’s centerfielder. He led the Blue Tornado to the state’s Division II-AA final four and ranked second on the team in batting average (.354) and runs scored (17).

Levine was the Division II-AA East/Middle Region champion as a junior. He competed in the state tournament three times and was a Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps honoree as a senior.
