5 Things to know about the AutoZone Liberty Bowl High School All-Star Game

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl High School All-Star Game will take place on Saturday December 8th at 2:30 p.m. at Memphis University School's Stokes Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on TV by WLMT CW 30, and live on the radio by Sports 56/87.7 FM. Tickets are $10. Here are five key things to know about the game. 

1. Chance to see top recruits

The roster boasts 14 of the top-50 prospects in the 247Sports 2019 football rankings. It is headlined by three of the top 5 in No. 1 Maurice Hampton, No. 2 Bill Norton, and No. 5 Eric Gray. Gray, Southwind's Kristian Williams, and Kirby's Jaden Johnson are three of the state's top uncommitted prospects. 

2. 50 players from last year's game signed letters of intent

The game is a chance for potential recruits to showcase their talents against strong competition after the TSSAA playoffs have wrapped up. Last year, a record-setting 50 players from the roster signed letters of intent. Since 2010, 283 players have signed DI letters of intent. 

3. NFL Alumni

A number of players from past years have made the NFL including; Chicago Bears' wide receiver Anthony Miller (Christian Brothers), Carolina Panthers' defensive lineman Dontari Poe (Wooddale), and former first-round pick Dan Williams (East)

4. Its competitive

Twelve of the seventeen games have been decided by a touchdown or less. The largest margin of victory was in 2008 when the Red Team beat the Blue Team 14-0. Last year, the Red Team prevailed 31-28, evening the all-time series at 8-8. The teams have split the last four games. 

5. There's a coaches' forum

Prior to the game, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a coaches' forum at MUS' Wunderlich Auditorium. It will be an open forum aimed at bringing youth football commissioners, high-school administrators, and youth and high-school coaches together. Attendees will receive a complimentary lunch and two tickets to the All-Star game.
