Commercial Appeal All-Metro volleyball team for 2018
FIRST TEAM
All members of the Commercial Appeal All-Metro volleyball first team are nominees for the volleyball player of the year. The winner will be announced May 17 at the third annual Commercial Appeal Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans.
Sage Hawley
Harding Academy, Jr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: Hawley had 315 kills, 226 blocks and a .395 hitting percentage.
Rachel McCollum
Collierville, Fr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: McCollum helped lead the Dragons to a 36-8 record with 269 kills and 672 assists.
Emma Perkins
Briarcrest, Jr.
Position: Libero
Why chosen: According to prepvolleyball.com, Perkins has one of the top serves in the country. She recorded 465 digs and 52 aces.
Karagan Prine
Harding Academy, Jr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Prine recorded 351 kills and 632 assists with a hitting percentage of .315.
Loren Robertson
Briarcrest, Jr.
Why chosen: Setter
Why chosen: The Memphis commitment had 1,386 assists, averaging 12.6 per set. She also had 289 digs.
Kimari Terrell
Harding Academy, Sr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: Terrell posted 309 kills, 152 blocks, and a .425 hitting percentage.
Annika Thompson
St. George’s, Jr.
Position: Setter
Why chosen: The Charlotte commitment posted 291 kills, 94 aces, 319 digs, and 509 assists.
Alyiah Wells
Briarcrest, Sr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: The Alabama signee was named MVP of the DII-AA state championship match, region MVP, and most outstanding player of the Collierville Classic. She recorded 545 kills, 116 blocks and 50 aces.

Why chosen: Yerty led Briarcrest to the DII-AA state title in her first season. She is the former coach at Memphis, where she is the winningest coach in school history.
