Smyrna's Meeke, Siegel's Jedlicki top DNJ all-area bowling teams

Smyrna senior Josh Meeke and Siegel senior Danielle Jedlicki ended outstanding high school bowling careers recently.

The duo finishes their careers by being named The Daily News Journal's all-area bowlers of the year for 2018-19.

It is the fourth consecutive award for Jedlicki, who had a state title and two runner-up finishes in her career. She placed fifth in the state during her senior season after averaging over 199 during the regular season.

Meeke wins the award for the second time in his career and he went out with a bang. Not only did he help lead his Bulldogs to a Division I team state championship, he also captured the state individual title after averaging over 232 during the regular season.

Meeke was also named the state's Mr. Bowler.

Jacob Berry

Blackman, Jr.

Why chosen: Averaged 219.8 during the season, reaching the state individual tournament semifinals, placing 10th overall.

Why chosen: One of the veterans who paced the Bulldogs to a Division I state team championship. Averaged 210.5 on the season and reached the state individual tournament.

Why chosen: Averaged 206.7 in the regular season and reached the state individual semifinals.

Josh Meeke

Smyrna, Sr.

Why chosen: Won the Division I state singles title, was named Mr. Bowler and led the Bulldogs to the Division I team championship. Averaged 232.3 during the season.

Why chosen: Led Smyrna to a Division I state team title, averaging 215.7. Reached the state individual tournament semifinals, finishing 13th.

Why chosen: Smyrna won the TSSAA Division I state team tournament, beating Hardin County 21-6 with 3,812 total pins. The state championship was the program’s fifth, tying Columbia’s boys for the most in state history.

Why chosen: Averaged 178 this season to lead the Lady Patriots and reached the state individual tournament semifinals.

Why chosen: Averaged 207 this season while bowling with the Bulldog boys' squad that won a state championship. She finished eighth in the state individual tournament, reaching the semifinals.

Why chosen: Led the Lady Red Hawks with a 171.6 average, leading her squad to the DI team state tournament.

Why chosen: The Arkansas State signee was another cataylst on the Lady Blaze state semifinals team, averaging 207.7 on the season and reaching the state individual semifinals, finishing seventh.

Why chosen: Led the Lady Blaze to the state team semifinals while also reaching the state individual semifinals, finishing ninth. Her 213 average was third best in the state.
