Prep Soccer: Baylor Ties Rhea County, CCS, Notre Dame Advance

The Baylor boys soccer team traveled to Rhea County for a non region soccer match.  Rhea County scored two goals in the first half and Baylor scored two in the second half to earn a 2-2 tie.

At the 12th minute, Justin Price (RC) scored off a Brady Rice cross.

At the 24th minute, Nate Varner (RC) scored off another cross from Brady Rice.

It was 2-0 for Rhea County.

At the 57th minute, John Musick (Baylor) scored off a Nathan Webb pass.
 
At the 63rd minute, John Musick (Baylor) scored again off a loose ball in the box.

"Coach Smith has done a really good job with that program,"  Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said. "That made this game very difficult for us. I am proud of our guys to fight back to get into the game."

Baylor out shot Rhea County 7-5.  Tommy Knight and Charlie Hooks combined for six saves for Baylor who is now 8-5-2 on the season.  Rhea County is 14-1-2.

 

In the Division II Class A district tournament, CCS, Notre Dame and St. Andrews won quarterfinal games on Tuesday.

CCS beat Silverdale 7-0 and Notre Dame beat Collegedale 2-0.  St. Andrews also posted a quarterfinal win over Grace.

Top seeded Boyd-Buchanan will host St. Andrews Thursday at 7 p.m. and CCS will host Notre Dame on Thursday also at 7 p.m.    Both the championship and consolation games will be played at the higher seed on Saturday.   Four teams from the district advance to the region tournament next week.
