CINCINNATI, OH -- The Cincinnati Reds announced on Monday the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Tristan Archer of the Milwaukee Brewers for cash considerations.

Archer is a Sullivan South product who played collegiately at Tennessee Tech before being drafted in the 21st round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft by the Brewers, with whom he had spent the first six years of his professional career.

“I’m excited to be in a new place,” said Archer. “I think that the change of scenery can be a great thing.”

The 28-year-old Archer was a Southern League All-Star with Biloxi in 2016 and was with Class AAA Colorado Springs the majority of the last two years. Archer had been with the San Antonio Missions, the Brewers’ new Class AAA affiliate this season.

In 375 minor league games, Archer has compiled a 27-23 record with 11 saves and a 3.75 ERA with 404 strikeouts in 468⅓ innings.

This season with the Missions, Archer was 0-1 with a 4.32 ERA in 16⅓ innings.

Archer will be assigned to the Louisville Bats of the Class AAA International League.

NORRIS TAKE LOSS. A two-run homer first-inning homer by Renato Nunez and two errors did in former Science Hill star Daniel Norris in a 5-3 loss at Baltimore Monday afternoon.

Norris allowed four runs in 5⅔ innings, but one two were earned. The left-hander struck out five and walked three.

STREAKING CRAIG. The Indianapolis Indians took six of seven games in a road trip to Louisville and Columbus in the past week thanks in part to former Science Hill Hilltopper Will Craig.

Craig was 12-for-28 with three home runs and eight RBI’s on the road swing and the former first-round draft pick has his season average up to .271 to go with his 14 home runs and 37 RBI’s in 45 games.

STRATTON BOUNCES BACK. Former Sullivan East Patriot Hunter Stratton suffered his roughest outing of the season on May 15 against the Fort Meyers Miracle, but bounced back with scoreless frames on May 19 against the Palm Beach Cardinals and on May 23 against the Tampa Tarpons.

In a dozen appearances for the Bradenton Marauders, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Class A Florida State League affiliate, Stratton is 4-0 with a 1.74 ERA.

In 26⅓ innings of work this season, the right-hander has struck out 26, walked eight and given up just 17 hits.

CARTER DIALING IN AT TRENTON. Another former Hilltopper, Will Carter, has had a splendid last month with the Eastern League Class AA Trenton Thunder of the New York Yankees’ organization.

Carter’s ERA was over 10.00 before taking the hill in relief on April 14 against the Portland Sea Dogs.

Eight appearances later and his first win of the season on May 16 against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Carter’s ERA had dwindled to a palty 2.21.

The right-hander tossed 3⅓ innings in his victory over the Ponies, allowing just one hit, striking out two and walking none.

In his two most recent appearances, Carter did allow a run each to the same two teams on May 20 and May 26, but the ERA is still an impressive 2.52.
