We've reached the midpoint of the 2019 high school football regular season for some teams.

Here are five takeaways from Week 5.

7 area undefeated teams lose

A third of of the 21 Nashville area football teams that entered Week 5 undefeated ended the night with their first loss on Friday.

Seven teams fell before they could reach the midpoint of the 2019 regular season.

The list included Ravenwood, the No. 1 team in The Tennessean Midstate poll, and Ensworth, which was ranked fourth this past week.

Brentwood beat Ravenwood 25-14 in the Battle of the Woods. Baylor beat Ensworth 24-14.

Other teams falling included Lewis County to Summertown, Montgomery Central to Creek Wood, White House to Springfield, Mt. Juliet to Wilson Central and BGA to CPA.

Is Chattanooga tops in DII-AAA?

Do the top two teams in Division II-AAA reside in Chattanooga?

McCallie and Baylor are 5-0 and at the top of the DII-AAA East Region. Briarcrest Christian (5-0) is the only DII-AAA West team after MBA beat Memphis University School 17-14.

McCallie whipped Knoxville Catholic 56-19 in their region contest and has already defeated Brentwood Academy. Brentwood Academy has won the last four state titles in Division II's largest classification, including the past two in DII-AAA.

The Eagles whipped Father Ryan 50-7 Friday.

Coffee County's first win

Coffee County first-year coach Doug Greene picked up his first win of the season, beating Siegel 42-36 behind Matthew Pittman's 236 total yards — 113 passing and 123 rushing.

The irony? The Red Raiders' win was the first over a Rutherford County program since 2004, when Coffee County beat Siegel 49-21.

That also was Siegel's second year as a high school.

DII championship rematches

A night of Division II state championship rematches ended like a year ago — with Davidson Academy and CPA on top.

Davidson Academy beat Friendship Christian 30-23 in a rematch of the 2018 Division II-A championship while CPA picked up its first win 28-0 over BGA in a rematch of the DII-AA title game.

CPA's defense shut down Bucknell commitment Nick Semptimphelter, the top passer in the Nashville area. Semptimphelter was 12-of-20 passing for 84 yards. He entered the game averaging 275.8 yards. CPA quarterback Cade Law ran for 82 yards and threw for 53.

CPA won the 2018 DII-AA championship 41-21.

For Davidson Academy, Bryce Rawls was 12-of-18 passing for 231 yards and three touchdowns. That included 125 yards to Jaiden Rice. Friendship's Justin Seagraves had 104 yards rushing and two TDs.

Davidson Academy won last year's DII-A championship 39-27.

Big, quick night for Trousdale Co. running back

Jayden Hicks didn't need many touches to have a big night for Trousdale County.

Hicks had just four carries for 196 yards and scored two touchdowns in Trousdale's 44-6 rout of Westmoreland. He averaged 49 yards a carry.
