Ravenwood football coach Matt Daniels will have his suspension lifted Friday and return to his role as coach a day after the Raptors' non-region game at 7 p.m. Thursday at CPA.

Non-faculty coach and former Tennessee Titan Ryan Fowler, though, will remain suspended while an investigation continues regarding "coaches actively participating in football practice in a helmet and pads."

“We believe that our teachers and coaches are among the best in the state, and we hold them to a high standard," Williamson County Schools communication director Carol Birdsong said. "This standard includes expectations for good professional judgment at all times.

"While other entities may not view coaches actively participating in football practice in a helmet and pads as a violation, that practice is not one that is within our professional expectations in WCS."

Coaches participating in practices are not a violation to TSSAA rules, TSSAA assistant director Matthew Gillespie said previously.

Birdsong said Williamson County athletic director Darrin Joines will be working with coaches and school athletic directors to establish measures for appropriate participation by coaches at practices.

Daniels, who is in his third season at Ravenwood, said he failed to uphold his own high standards.

"I take pride in doing things the right way and will learn from this and grow as a teacher, coach and mentor," Daniels wrote in a statement. "I love being with our boys and our staff, and I can't wait to rejoin the team."

Ravenwood (5-1) defeated Dickson County 70-6 on Friday without Daniels and Fowler on the sideline. Assistant coach Andrew Elrod, the school's athletic director, is the acting coach with Daniels suspended.
