The White House Heritage girls soccer team appears to be peaking at the right time.
After locking up the District 9-AA title with their first-ever win over White House on Thursday, Oct. 3, the Lady Patriots finished the regular season by tying Hendersonville and beating Station Camp – two Class AAA programs.
“The girls knew going into this week that they were playing some tough competition,” White House Heritage coach Rett Roach said. “However, they accepted the challenge admirably and played their best soccer of the season.”
Cassie Gardner, Abby Tolbert and Eimy Esparza scored goals in a 3-3 tie with the Commandos on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
The Station Camp match was also a tight battle. Heritage sophomore Ella Bryant netted a goal in the 27th minute to give the Lady Patriots a 1-0 lead, and that score held until halftime.
Station Camp freshman Elle Williams tied the game with a tally in the 52nd minute. However, Gardner answered with the go-ahead goal just five minutes later, and the Lady Patriot defense held on for a 2-1 victory.

Heritage wrapped the regular season with an 8-2-4 record. The Lady Patriots will take on either Springfield or Portland in the District 9-AA tournament semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at White House High School.
“I have never coached a team more excited for the opportunities that lie in front of them,” Roach said. “They can’t wait to get back on the pitch (Tuesday).”
