Lexington softball coach Ronnie Burke confirmed via text that he has resigned as head coach.

Burke's reasoning is that he is "dealing with family and personal issues that are bigger than softball right now."

Lexington is coming off a 47-6 season with a runner-up finish in the Class AA state tournament. The Lady Tigers lost two seniors off that team with the nucleus back for the 2020 season.

Burke took over the Lexington softball team in 2012, and he has had five appearances in the state tournament, including two runner-up finishes and a state championship in 2013.

During his eight-year tenure at Lexington, the Lady Tigers went 310-71-6 (.803 percent).
