Midstate high school football rankings: Top 10 after first round of playoffs

Here's a look at the top 10 high school football teams in Middle Tennessee, as ranked by the USA Today Sports Network. 

1. Oakland (11-0) – The Patriots opened the Class 6A playoffs by shutting out Lebanon 34-0, their third straight postseason shutout dating to the 2018 postseason. Last week: No. 1. This week: vs. Mt. Juliet.

2. Pearl-Cohn (11-0) – Martino Owens threw for 222 yards in a 42-0 rout of Stewart County to open the Class 3A playoffs. Last week:  No. 2. This week: vs. East Nashville.

3. Ravenwood (10-1) – The Raptors shut out Stewarts Creek 35-0 in a Class 6A first-round playoff game for their sixth straight win. Last week: No. 3. This week: at Cane Ridge.

4. Brentwood (9-2) – The Bruins held McGavock to just 159 total yards in a 38-6 rout in a Class 6A first-round playoff game. Last week: No. 4. This week: vs. Independence.

5. Beech (11-0) – The Buccaneers held Columbia to 161 total yards in a 6-3 win in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. Last week: No. 5. This week: vs. Shelbyville.

6. Henry County (9-2) – Jayln Foster’s 69 rushing yards led the Patriots in a 10-6 defensive win over Ridgeway in a Class 5A first-round win. Last week: No. 6. This week: vs. Clarksville.

7. Ensworth (7-3) – Gerard Bullock opens the Tigers’ postseason this week averaging 142.2 passing yards a game. Last week: No. 8. This week: at Briarcrest Christian.

8. Cane Ridge (8-3) – Xayvion Clemmons threw for 232 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Franklin. Last week: No. 9. This week: vs. Ravenwood.

9. Page (10-1) – The Patriots opened the Class 5A playoffs with their first shutout of the season – a 42-0 rout of Hunters Lane. Last week: No. 10. This week: vs. Summit.

10. Shelbyville (10-1) – The Eagles shut out Hillsboro 39-0 to avenge back-to-back Class 5A playoff losses to the Burros. Last week: Not ranked. This week: at Beech.
