The McCallie basketball team held on for a 50-46 win over visiting CCS Friday night in a key Division II-AA region basketball game.
McCallie came out strong and led 14-5 at the end of the first quarter. Eric Rivers had 14 of his 23 points in the first half helping his team maintain a 28-19 lead at the half.
CCS chipped away at the lead in the second half and trailed by just two with in the final minute. McCallie's Jaryam Sazonou would hit two free throws to seal the win with under 10 seconds left.
Saizanou had 15 points, 11 in the second half. Rivers was nine of 10 from the free throw line.
CCS was led by Michael Houge who finished with 20 points. Treveon Scott had 15 points for CCS.
