The CCS boys basketball team celebrated senior night with a big Division II region basketball win Friday night. The Chargers held on in the final minutes to beat Baylor 44-41 before a raucous home crowd.
CCS's Micheal Houge finished with 17 points and Traveon Scott had 12. CCS trailed 23-21 at the half but out scored the Red Raiders 12-6 in the third quarter. A big three by Dee Hinton and five points by Houge in the fourth helped the Chargers hold on for the win.
Baylor's Nick Kurtz led all scorers with 20 points.
Senior boys honored before the game include Dee Hinton, Rod Young, Grant Van Meter and Micheal Houge.
BAYLOR GIRLS 59 CCS 34 The Baylor girls team scored 20 points in the second quarter and held the Lady Chargers to just one point in the third to earn the 59-34 win. Baylor's Reagan Conley led all scorers with 20 points including eight of 11 from the free throw line. Baylor also hit nine three pointers.
CCS was led by Lily Brady who finished with 15 points. CCS seniors Dixie Walker and Madison Blevins were honored after the game.
CCS will travel to Baylor next week for their second meeting.
