Baseball Roundup: Centennial, Summit earn district victories; Nolensville, Ravenwood also win

Baseball – Centennial at Brentwood

The Centennial baseball team bounced back from a season-opening loss against Brentwood by tipping the Bruins in Brentwood Wednesday in District 11-AAA play.

The Cougars claimed a 3-1 win behind early runs in the first and second innings. Both Alec Beaman and Brayden Woods drove in runs for Centennial and Beaman capped the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch.

Jack Baughman had two hits for the Cougars.

Nolan Wells opened on the mound for Centennial and struck out two with two walks and one hit over five innings. Ben Brown closed the final 1 2/3s with a pair of strikes and a walk over 24 pitches.

Scott Collins led the Bruins with an RBI-single, while Michael Finch doubled. Brentwood won the opener 7-4 over Centennial on Monday. 


Summit 5, Franklin 1

After opening the second inning with three consecutive walks to load the bases, Summit pushed in back-to-back runs on a sacrifice fly and Franklin error to build an early lead that stuck in District 11-AAA action Wednesday.

The Spartans closed the inning with another run on a passed ball and led 4-0 early. Cole Thomason scored two runs for the Spartans, who were limited to just two hits.

Austin Nephew added a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth, while both Cameron Lee and Blake Money drove in runs.

Money went the distance pitching, scattering four hits with 10 Ks and one walk over 86 pitches with no earned.

Guy Lipscomb led the Rebels by going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Nolensville 10, Warren County 0, 5 innings

The Knights plated five runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to close a home win Wednesday.

Jackson Hill smacked a three-run triple in the fourth for Nolensville, while both Colin Dunworth and Ethan Syling added two RBIs.

Tyler Hummel earned the win by going 4 2/3s with three strikeouts, two walks and allowing two hits.

Spring Hill 3, Independence 2

After getting hit by a pitch, Brantley Whitell stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the final run of the contest on a dropped third strike for Spring Hill.

Elijah Williams went 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Raiders. Brett Bell, Angel Montoya and Brandon O’Brian all added RBIs.

The Eagles racked up eight walks in the contest, but left six on base.

Slater Schield led Indy with two singles and an RBI. Both Robert Hassell and Jackson Riedling scored runs, while Ty Allen added an RBI.

Ravenwood 8, Lipscomb Academy 2

The Raptors plated five runs in the second inning to build an early advantage and take a win in Nashville at Lipscomb Academy Wednesday.

Ben Severance led the Raptors with three hits, including a pair of doubles. He drove in two runs and scored twice. Shane Craig added a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and two runs scored as well.

Ravenwood was coming off a 5-2 win at Father Ryan on Monday.
