Kramer & Borders claim top honors —
Wilson Central coach John Kramer and his 113-pound state champion Hunter Borders earned the top individual honors in the inaugural All-Wilson County Wrestling Team as selected by The Wilson Post.
A veteran wrestling coach, Kramer guided Wildcats to eight individual state championships during his tenure as well as well as the district and regional dual titles this past season — in what might have been the best coaching effort of his career.
Wilson Central started nine freshman and sophomores out of 14 weight classes during the season — going 28-1 and finishing second in the state duals.
A junior, Borders went 5-0 in the state tournament, with four wins coming via pin. His finals bout with Blackman High’s Justin Bradford was voted “Best Match” of the state finals.
As a ninth grader Borders won the 2018 state title — becoming only the second Wildcat to win two state crowns.
