Grace Christian Academy is mourning the loss of senior baseball player Grant Solomon, who died Monday.

Solomon, who recently turned 18, was the son of former Nashville television and radio personality Aaron Solomon and the nephew of Providence Christian Academy girls basketball coach Tara James.

James said he died in a "single car accident." Other details of Solomon's death have not been confirmed.

A vigil was held Monday night at Grace Christian in honor of Solomon.

"We are heartbroken about Grant Solomon today," Grace Christian baseball coach Brad Myers said. "We also need to remember he went to heaven today. While we are crying, he is smiling. My man knows truth and knows his savior. He competed like none other and got the most out of his days here on Earth."

Grant Solomon played baseball at Grace Christian.

Social media was active Monday afternoon with condolences to Solomon’s family.

Included was a tweet from Grace Christian and also Solomon’s summer baseball team, the Rawlings SE Mad Mavs.

“Please be praying for the Solomon family and our GCA family as we mourn the loss of a beloved student and friend, rising senior, Grant Solomon,” said the tweet from Grace Christian.

“Today we’re heartbroken as we deal with the shock of the passing of our teammate and our most fierce competitor,” the team’s tweet said. “His last words to us yesterday were, ‘keep winning!’

“We will Grant! Not just in baseball but in life in your honor! We love you #30!”

Solomon, who also played basketball at Grace Christian, helped lead the Lions to the Class A state baseball tournament in 2019.
