La Vergne has lost its second basketball coach in a month.

The Wolverines also are looking for a new athletics director as Jeremy Moore, who served as both the school's AD and boys basketball coach, announced his resignation Wednesday.

Moore, who was head coach at La Vergne from 2006-08 and 2013-20, will move to Centennial to become the boys basketball coach there.

"I think it's a great opportunity for me and my family," Moore said. "At the end of the day, that's what it comes down to. I love La Vergne and the kids at La Vergne, and I will miss it. I spent 15 of my 18 professional years at La Vergne. It's definitely a special place."

La Vergne girls basketball coach Kim Walker resigned in June to take a safety coach position with Rutherford County Schools. Moore and Walker combined for 25 years of coaching at the school.

The Wolverines went 17-10 last season and were on track for a better season before dropping five of their last seven games after losing star guard and first-team all-area performer Antuan Williams to an injury.

Coach Jeremy Moore was 151-108 overall at La Vergne in the two stints.

Moore was 151-108 overall at La Vergne in the two stints. His teams reached the Region 4-AAA semifinals five times (2007, 2008, 2014, 2016 and 2018).

He has previously worked in Williamson County, spending three seasons coaching at Independence between La Vergne stints.

"It will be a great challenge," Moore said of his new role at Centennial. "Centennial is a great school."

Blackman hires girls soccer coach

Blackman has hired a veteran coach to head up the girls soccer program.

Brian Davies.

Brian Davies, who most recently was the head coach at Cumberland University, will take over the Lady Blaze this fall. He is the school's third girls soccer coach in three seasons, replacing Lucas Daugherty, who coached the team for just one season.

The Lady Blaze went 3-12 last season.

Davies was a coach at Cumberland for five seasons, including head coach the previous three years. He went 43-16-3 during that span and was named Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 after the Phoenix won the league title.

He has also been a head coach collegiately at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, and Caldwell (N.J.) College and was head coach at Southeast High School in Bradenton, Florida.

The Green Mountain College graduate is the soccer program's all-time leading scorer and is in the school's athletics hall of fame.
