Bradley County Girls Basketball Off The Court After Cases Of COVID; 3 Other Bradley Schools Also Have Cases

After cases of COVID-19 turned up among players on the Bradley County girls basketball team, all activities in the program are on hold.

Bradley County School officials said, "Over the weekend Bradley County Schools identified positive cases within our schools. Bradley Central, Park View, Taylor, and Valley View have confirmed cases.

"The administration immediately executed their plan and worked with the local health department to implement the contact tracing protocols. All individuals considered close contacts have been notified and each of the schools sent a message to inform families of a positive case in their building. All necessary cleaning took place and all enhanced safety protocols continue to be followed.

"In reference to the confirmed cases reported at Bradley Central High School, Bradley County Schools would like to share the news of positive COVID-19 cases in Bradley Central’s Bearettes Basketball program. We believe it’s important to be as transparent as possible about this pandemic and, by sharing this information, you have the information you need to take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our school community.

"As of Saturday, August 8th, Bradley Central High School can confirm positive cases of COVID-19 in the Bearette Basketball Program. These individuals are self-isolating safely at home, in accordance with public health guidance. However, out of an abundance of caution, we will be suspending all activities associated with this program.

"The school will communicate with families regarding our ability to resume practice. Decisions will be made in collaboration with the Bradley County Health Department. Bradley County Schools in collaboration with The Bradley County Health Department has conducted an investigation and notified all families with a child who was in close contact with a person testing positive for COVID-19. If your family was not contacted, your child was not considered to be a close contact.
