The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Tullahoma Wildcats 41-7 at home Friday for their fourth loss of the season.
The Rebels scored the first points of the contest, but the remainder of the game would be controlled by the Wildcats as the Rebels remained winless on the season.
After both teams punted on their first offensive drives, the Rebels got excellent field position when Jamal Blackwell picked off a pass and ran it back to the Tullahoma red zone.
Dakota Waggoner carried the ball into the end zone a few plays later to give the Rebels a 7-0 lead with three minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Wildcats responded quickly with a touchdown on their next drive to tie the score at 7-7 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.
The Rebels were forced to punt from their own end zone later in the period, and the Wildcats ran the kick back for a touchdown to take the lead with 2:24 remaining in the first half.
The Rebels trailed 14-7 at halftime.
Turnovers would prove costly for Franklin County in the third quarter as a fumble and an interception on consecutive drives set up touchdowns by the Wildcats to grow the deficit to 28-7 with six minutes remaining in the period
The Wildcats added one more touchdown in the final minute of the third quarter to put the Rebels in a 35-7 hole.
The Rebels fumbled the ball away on their first play of the fourth quarter to give the Wildcats the ball at the Franklin County 1-yard line. The Wildcats scored two plays later to make it a 34-point game with 11 minutes remaining.
The Rebels nearly got a touchdown later in the fourth quarter on a pass from Ke’Andre Johnson to McKeon Whitsett, but the ball would be fumbled and recovered by Tullahoma in the end zone for a touchback.
The Wildcats ran the clock out from there as the Rebels lost by 34 points.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 0-4 on the season.
They will have a bye next week before returning to action on Sept. 25 for a home game against Grundy County High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
