Milan football advances to Class 3A quarterfinals with COVID win over Covington

Milan football coach Carl Diffee received word on Friday morning that Covington was forfeiting the Class 3A second round playoff game that evening due to COVID.

Milan (9-1) advances to the Class 3A quarterfinals on Nov. 20, and the Bulldogs will host the South Gibson-Westview winner.

Covington had reached the Class 3A semifinals each of the past three years with two trips to the state championship game.

This is Milan's second COVID forfeit of the season. The Bulldogs received a COVID win over Collierville in Week 2.
