Baylor junior David Danquah announced on Wednesday that he has verbally committed to University of North Carolina.
"We are extremely excited that David has this opportunity to continue to play in the ACC (at the highest level) while also getting a top education from one of the best universities," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said. "This is a program that is in the Top 10 in the nation. We knew he was special when he was a freshmen, but watching him develop over the years has been a highlight. I am excited that I get two more soccer seasons with this young man! "
Blair and the Baylor soccer community gave credit to many entities and people that played a part in David progression as a player including Baylor School, Matt Yelton (former Red Wolves Academy Executive Director/ ETSU Women’s Assistant Coach), Danny McBride (Red Wolves Academy Coach), Kwame Appiah, Stacey Casteel, and Red Wolves Soccer Academy. Blair said Matt Yelton and Danny McBride had a huge impact in his development as a soccer player and person. These two individuals are why high school and club soccer can coexist, Blair said.
