COOKEVILLE – Providence Christian will return to its second Division II-A girls basketball state championship game in three years.

PCA outlasted Northpoint Christian on Thursday, winning 42-40 at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. PCA will play the Webb School (27-2) at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Division II-A championship game.

Webb defeated PCA, a DII-A District 3 rival, four times this season.

Mariah Edmonds led PCA (23-9) with 16 points. She didn't play in the program's 2019 DII-A title run when she suffered a knee injury during the season. Her 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter gave the Lady Lions a 42-40 lead.

The Lady Lions clawed their way back from a nine-point deficit late in the first half. After only scoring three points in the second quarter, PCA outscored Northpoint Christian 24-13 in the second half.

Isabella Carlson led the Lady Trojans with 15 points.
