Final Nashville area high school boys basketball top 10 rankings: Midstate ends with three champions

Here’s a look at the final ranking of top 10 Nashville area boys high school basketball teams for the 2020-21 season, as ranked by The Tennessean.

1. MBA (16-2) – The Big Red closed out the season as the Division ll-AA champions. Last week: Ranked No. 1.

2. Brentwood Academy (20-4) – The Eagles finished second in Dll-AA losing to MBA in the championship. Last week: Ranked No. 4.

3. Cane Ridge (15-1) – The Ravens picked up narrow wins over Bearden and Collierville before losing 62-43 to Houston in the Class AAA championship. Last week: No. 3.

4. Siegel (27-5) – The Stars' offense faltered late as they were held scoreless over the final three minutes in a 68-57 loss to Oak Ridge in the Class AAA quarterfinals. Last week: Ranked No. 2.

5. Goodpasture (28-1) – The Cougars beat CPA 60-50 for their first state championship. Last week: Ranked No. 5.

6. Clarksville (20-6) – The Wildcats gave Houston its closest game keeping the deficit in single digits for much of the game before losing 70-58 in the Class AAA quarterfinals. Last week: No. 6.

7. CPA (27-5) – CPA finished second in Division ll-A losing to Goodpasture in the championship. Last week: Ranked No. 9.

8. Clay County (30-2) –Class A Mr. Basketball winner Grant Strong averaged 31 points and 10.3 rebounds in the tournament leading the Bulldogs to their first state championship. Last week: No. 10.

9. Upperman (27-6) – After a quarterfinals win over Pearl-Cohn, the Bees faltered late losing to eventual Class AA champion Greeneville 47-41 in the semifinals. Last week: Ranked No. 7.

10. Franklin (28-4) – The Admirals season came to an end with a loss to Clarksville in the sectional. Last week: Ranked No. 8.
