Thursday Round-up: Bulldogs Sweep Washburn in DH; Lady Cyclones Limit Central In Win

The Bulldogs rolled to a sweep on Thursday afternoon.

In the first game of the evening, the Hampton bats held the upper hand as McKinley Kuhn and Brody Hicks had three RBI apiece.
Conor Jones was 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Parker Henry and Morgan Lyons recorded two hits and two RBI apiece.

The second game saw Austin Miller, Kuhn and Henry record three RBI apiece, while Lyons and Owens each had two RBI.

Dobyns-Bennett 11, Elizabethton 1 (baseball)
The Cyclones were unable to recover from an early deficit on Thursday evening in Kingsport.

DB raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings and pulled away with six runs in the fourth.

Gage Treadway and Zak Workman each had a hit for the Cyclones.

Providence Academy 8, Happy Valley 8 (baseball)
Lucas Clausse had two hits and two RBI, but the Warriors came up short in a nonconference tilt on Thursday.

Providence jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first three innings, but Happy Valley battled back with two runs in the fourth and six in the fifth to tie the game at 8-8. However, the Knights scored the game-winner in the top of the sixth.

Hunter Smith was 2-for-4 at the plate

Elizabethton 7, Sullivan Central 0 (softball)
A dominant defensive performance powered the Lady Cyclones to a Three Rivers Conference game.

Elizabethton jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the inning of play and left no doubt with three runs apiece in the third and fourth innings.

Madisun Pritchard allowed just one hit and struck out five batters in a complete-game effort.

At the plate, Maddie O’Quinn had two hits, while six other Lady Cyclones recorded hits.

Elizabethton recorded four doubles in the win.

Dobyns-Bennett 5, Unaka 3
King’s Academy 7, Unaka 0 (softball)
The opening day of the Eastman Invitational saw Unaka drop a pair of hard-fought games.

In the first game against DB, the Lady Rangers were unable to hold on to an early lead.

Lyndie Ramsey, Kendall Bare, Alana Parsons, Trinity Bowers and Sadie Shoun each had a hit for Unaka. Shoun allowed one earned run on two hits in three innings of work.

The second game of the evening saw Unaka unable to bounce back against a methodical scoring attack by King’s Academy.

Bowers and Ramsey each recorded two hits for the Lady Rangers, while Kailey Wilson added a hit.

In two innings of work, Bowers allowed just one earned run on five hits, while Kailey Wilson allowed just one earned run on eight hits in four innings of work.

Elizabethton 9, Cherokee 1 (soccer)
Sean Smithdeal led the way with three goals as Elizabethton rolled to the win. Skylar Jones scored two goals for the Orange and Black.

Elizabethton also saw Nathan Hurley, Dawson O’Quinn, Noah Lambert, and Riley Vernon score in the contest.
