All members of The Tennessean's girls basketball first team are nominees for the girls basketball player of the year. The winner will be announced on June 30 at the sixth annual Middle Tennessee High School Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans. 

Jaloni Cambridge

Ensworth, Fr.

Height; Position: 5-7; Guard

Why chosen: The Division II Miss Basketball averaged 19.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals. She missed the postseason with an elbow injury.

Acacia Hayes

Riverdale, Jr.

Height; Position: 5-7; Guard

Why chosen: Hayes was a Class AAA Miss Basketball finalist after averaging 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals. 

Iyana Moore

Blackman, Sr.

Height; Position: 5-8; Guard

Why chosen: The Vanderbilt signee led the Lady Blaze to their first state championship since 2015, averaging 16.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals.

Brentwood, Sr.

Height; Position: 5-9; Guard

Why chosen: The Princeton signee averaged a team-high 18.4 points along with 3.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals. 

Zoe Piller

Nolensville, Sr.

Height; Position: 6-0; Forward

Why chosen: Piller, a West Florida signee, averaged a double-double with 17.4 points and 11.3 rebounds along with 1.8 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 assists.

Karly Weathers

Loretto, Jr.

Height; Position: 5-11; Guard

Why chosen: The Alabama commitment was named the Class A Miss Basketball winner and led the Lady Mustangs to their first state championship since 1958 averaging a team-high 22.4 points.

Coach of the Year

Larry White

Macon County

Why chosen: White won his first state championship in 2021. He coached the Tigerettes to the Class AA state title — the first in school history — with a 51-40 win over Grainger. Macon County finished the season 27-6.
