Thursday Round-up: Cloudland Softball Runs Past North

Cloudland 17, Sullivan North 2 (softball)
The Lady ‘Landers jumped out early and never looked back.
Cloudland plated seven runs in the bottom of the first as they rolled to a district win.

Karah Fields and Krisi Bare tallied three hits and two RBI apiece to lead CHS, while Taylor Hicks had two hits and three RBI.

Kendall Birchfield added three RBI. Ryan Turbyfill, Gracie Freeman, and Izabella Christman each had two RBI.

In the circle, Fields picked up the win as she allowed just one hit in just over two innings of work with two strikeouts.

Kendall Birchfield also had a strong effort as she allowed just two unearned runs on two hits.

Elizabethton 6, Sullivan South 1 (softball)
Elizabethton picked up a road win on Thursday afternoon.

EHS jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning and then added two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to secure the win.

Madisun Pritchard, Ember Jensen, and Emma O’Quinn had two hits apiece for the Lady Cyclones, while Pritchard recorded two RBI.

Mailey Ingram, Mollie Johnson, Maddie O’Quinn, Kallista Deprimo, and Cheyenne Poiroux each added a hit.

In the circle, Pritchard allowed just one earned run on one hit with eight strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

University High 11, Hampton 7 (softball)
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to hold on against a determined UH squad.

Hampton held a three-run lead after three and a half innings, but UH responded to take the lead and hold on for the win.

Makayla Maslin tallied three hits for Hampton. Madison Setlock added two hits for the Hampton effort, while Abigail Willis and Rachel Fair each tallied two RBI.

Happy Valley 26, Unaka 1
Happy Valley 17, Unaka 2 (baseball)
The Warriors took care of business in a county doubleheader Thursday night.

In the first game, Andrew Little, Hunter Smith, Andrew Clawson, and Lucas Chausse tallied three RBI, while Eli Ayers, Colby Chausse, and Pedro Colunga recorded two RBI.
Lucas Carr and Brandon Powell had two hits each.

The second game saw Corey Volkman lead the way for the Warriors with three RBI. Reagan Ensor and Chausse tallied two hits and two RBI apiece.

Lakeway Christian 13, Hampton 9 (baseball)
The Bulldogs were unable to hold off a late Lion charge.

Hampton raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning, but Lakeway was methodical in their comeback to slide by the Bulldogs for the win.

Collin Morgan had an outstanding night as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI, while Morgan Lyons added two hits.

Chance Point had two hits and two RBI along with a stolen base in the contest.
