Charles leads Patriots past Eagles

Henry County High School’s Peyton Charles completes a swing during the Patriots’ 10-0 win over Clarksville Northeast on Monday at HCHS. Charles drove in two runs at the plate and he held the Eagles to just three hits as the Patriots’ pitcher.

Starting the week with a shutout victory over a district opponent was just what the Henry County High School baseball team had in mind. The Patriots blanked Clarksville Northeast 10-0 on Monday at HCHS behind the three-hit pitching of Peyton Charles. Charles did have to work around six bases on balls, but he recorded four strikeouts. Henry County improved to 7-9 on the season and 5-6 in District 10-AAA games. The Patriots played at Northeast on Tuesday. Henry County has added a home game with Stewart County on Thursday. The varsity contest will start at 6 p.m. PATRIOTS 10, EAGLES 0 Henry County scored one run in the first before adding three in the third and two more in the fourth inning for a 6-0 edge. The Patriots finished off the game’s scoring with a four-run fifth inning rally to post the victory on the mercy rule. Will Norwood had four hits in four at-bats for the Patriots. He smacked a double and drove in four runs. Kaine Gallimore chipped in two hits and two runs batted in. Hudson Cepparulo hit a double, walked once and he drove in two runs. He also stole two bases. Rodney Littleton Jr. and Charles both added hits while driving in two runs. Charles added two stolen bases.
