Lainey Barrow has earned a volleyball scholarship to play at Chattanooga State.
A signing ceremony was held at Grace Academy on Tuesday.
The recently graduated senior attended Grace for seven years, and she played volleyball for the full seven years during middle and high school. She also played on the A5 club volleyball team out of Chattanooga.
Her coach, Laurie McGinley, said, "Lainey is extremely skilled and she stays highly motivated and trained to succeed in volleyball. She says that her parents have always been her motivation and they both have poured so much into her volleyball career."
“I am so grateful for my parents”, she said.
Lainey plans to major in Dental Hygiene starting in the Fall of 2021.
She said, “Ever since I watched my first college volleyball game in middle school, I knew that I wanted to continue my volleyball career throughout college.”
She said, "I'm excited about my upcoming opportunity to extend my volleyball career at the collegiate level. I am grateful for Grace Academy, my coaches and family for supporting me through the years."
Coach McGinley said, "Lainey led her team in many ways. While she played a major role in winning the competitive games against opponents, she also effortlessly took over a leadership role off of the court.
“Lainey is loved by all of her teammates and is an encourager on and off the court. She is enthusiastic and always has a big smile on her face. It has been a true pleasure to watch Lainey grow into a leadership role on and off the court.”
