State Soccer – Page vs. Greeneville

MURFREESBORO – For the second time in school history, the Page High School boys soccer team will play for a state championship.

The Patriots used an early penalty kick goal from senior Nolan Colladay to reach the Class AA state final with a 1-0 win over three-time defending champion Greeneville on Wednesday at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex.

Page will face Sevier County for the program’s first state title at 4 p.m. on Friday.

The Patriots dominated possession and out-shot Greeneville – which beat Page 2-1 in the 2017 final – 31-9, including 17-1 in the opening 40 minutes.

Colladay produced the lone goal by finding the back of the net on a PK in the 15th. Grayson Dugan led the Patriots offense with seven shots, while both Sam Rainey and Hyatt McDonald produced five shots, including four on goal for McDonald.

Colby Freeman came away with 12 saves for Greeneville, while John Gorman stopped a pair of shots to secure the clean sheet.

Bearden 1, Franklin 0, Class AAA Semifinals

The last team to beat Page fell short of reaching the Class AAA championship as Franklin dropped a 1-0 decision to Bearden Wednesday.

The Admirals were trying to make a state title run for the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014 in their first trip back to state since 2017.

Ethan Ford put away an unassisted tally in the 18th minute for Bearden, which was called for four yellow cards.

Bradley Whelan and Landon Robbins combined for seven shots for the Admirals, who defeated Columbia Central 3-0 Tuesday to advance.

Franklin closed the season with a 13-4 record. Bearden advanced to face Houston in the championship. The Mustangs edged Oakland 2-1, winning 5-4 in PKs.
