Riverdale hired Keri O'Neal as its new girls basketball coach, the school announced on Friday. O'Neal was  the coach at Murray County High School in Georgia.

O'Neal replaces Amy Josephson, who resigned in April and later took the top job  at Harpeth Hall.

Riverdale replaced Josephson with the husband-wife tandem of Joel and Ashley Ayers in May, but the Ayers backed out after accepting the job to take coaching positions at University School of Jackson.

This is O'Neal's second head coaching job. Last season was her first at Murray County and she went 9-10.

Riverdale went 18-5 this past season (11-3 in District 7-AAA), falling to Class AAA state champion Blackman in the region semifinals. The Lady Warriors went 19-12 the previous season, also losing to Blackman in the region semis.
