CPA's Caroline Betts named Tennessee's Gatorade girls soccer player of the year

CPA junior forward Caroline Betts has been named the Gatorade Tennessee girls soccer player of the year.

The Gatorade Player of the Year is based on athletic and academic performance as well as exemplary character shown on and off the field. Betts is now a finalist for Gatorade's national player of the year award, which will be announced later this month.

Betts, a Vanderbilt commitment, capped off the season with a team-high 38 goals, 30 assists 13 multi-goal games and eight multi-assist games. She led the Lady Lions to a 14-1-3 record and to the Division II-A semifinals.

Entering her senior season, Betts has 175 goals and 82 assists for her career. Betts started as an eighth-grader with the program..

On top of what she's done on the field, Betts boasts a 4.50 GPA. 

“Caroline is a once-in-a-career type player,” CPA coach Tom Gerlach said in the release. “She has what it takes to be set apart from most other girls.”

On the boys' side, McCallie's Gui Vivaldini was named the boys' player of the year.

A senior midfielder and forward, Vivaldini led the Blue Tornado to an 8-2-2 record securing a spot in the Division II-AA semifinals. He finished the season with 14 goals and seven assists. 

Vivaldini finished his high school career with 41 goals and 23 assists.
