Commercial Appeal All-Metro boys high school soccer team for 2021
The first six members of the Commercial Appeal All-Metro soccer first team are nominees for Male Soccer Player of the Year. The winner will be announced June 28 at the Memphis Area High School Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans.
First team
Parker Humphrey
Nominee for player of the year
Houston, Sr.
Positon: Midfielder
Why chosen: Humphrey scored 17 goals and had 15 assists, leading Houston to the Class AAA title.
Simeon Betapudi
Nominee for player of the year
MUS, Jr.
Position: Forward
Why chosen: Betapudi scored 12 goals, had seven assists, and led MUS to the DII-AA quarterfinals.
David Martin
Nominee for player of the year
Christian Brothers, Sr.
Positon: Midfielder
Why chosen: The University of Chicago commitment scored the winning goal in the DII-AA state championship game. He had seven goals and five assists.
Matt Brucker
Nominee for player of the year
Collierville, Jr.
Positon: Forward
Why chosen: Brucker scored 10 goals with five assists, leading Collierville to the Class AAA quarterfinals.
Logan Thompson

Why chosen: The Tennessee Wesleyan commitment scored 10 goals and had six assists.
Taylor Gruber

Why chosen: Gruber had six goals and 14 assists for the DII-AA state champions.

Why chosen: O'Malley scored the opening goal in the Class AAA state title game and helped Houston post nine shutouts.
Zach Campbell

Position: Defender
Why chosen: Campbell led a defense that gave up eight goals, posted nine shutouts and won the Class AAA state title.
Chris Krahn

Why chosen: Krahn helped the DII-AA state champions hold opponents to 13 goals and had nine shutouts.
