The first six athletes on The Tennessean All-Midstate boys lacrosse team are nominees for the Middle Tennessee Male Lacrosse Player Year. The winner will be announced on June 28 at the sixth annual Middle Tennessee High School Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans.

Austin English

MBA, Jr.

Position: Attacker

Why chosen: English scored 47 goals and had 17 assists. He was named the Private School Division I Offensive Player of the Year.

Connor Jensen

Ravenwood, Jr.

Position: Attacker

Why chosen: Jensen was named the Public School Division I Offensive Player of the Year. He scored 48 goals and had 28 assists.

Harry Noel

Ravenwood, Jr.

Position: Defender

Why chosen: Noel was the Public School Division I Defensive Player of the Year. He had 29 groundballs, an interception and 14 takeaways.

Gavin Reid

Franklin, Jr.

Position: Attacker

Why chosen: Reid scored 57 goals and had 34 assists. He also had 65 groundballs.

Max Speers

MBA, Sr.

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: Speers, a Centre College signee, scored 40 goals with 11 assists.

James Thompson

Hillsboro, Sr.

Position: Goalie

Why chosen: Thompson was the Public School Division 2 Defensive Player of the Year. He gave up 4.6 goals a game. He gave up two goals and had 14 saves in the state championship win.
