McCallie forward Gui Vivaldini leads a group of four Chattanooga-area student-athletes named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State Soccer Team. Vivaldini, the Gatorade Player of the Year for Tennessee is joined by fellow DII-AA honoree Jake Kellerhals of Baylor.

Midfielder Lawson Dale of Cleveland in Class AAA and Howard forward Amos Vyizigiro in Class AA make up the others from our area.

Vivaldini led McCallie to an 8-2-2 season as he scored 14 goals and had seven assists for the Blue Tornado.

In 2019 he was the only sophomore in the nation to be named a TopDrawerSoccer.com All-American as a member of the second team, while leading the Blue Tornado to the DII-AA state championship. During his sophomore and senior seasons he accounted for 41 goals and 23 assists.

Vivaldini, a North Carolina signee, was also the Region Player of the Year, a United Soccer Coaches All-American and the winner of the Steve George Award as the Chattanooga player of the year.

Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said, “Kellerhals is one of the top defenders in the state as a sophomore.” The rising junior was also an All-State pick by the Tennessee High School Coaches Association. Even as a defender the talented athlete had one assist.

Cleveland’s Dale scored 19 goals and had three assists for the Blue Raiders. He was a first team All-District and All-Region pick and a Cleveland Banner Player of the Week.

According to his coach, Miles Christian, “Lawson had a spectacular season for us and was our most dangerous offensive player all year. He really came alive in district play and produced goals when we needed them. I’m super proud of him and he’s going to have an exceptional playing career at Bryan College over the next 4 years.”

Vyizigiro, as a junior, led Howard to a record of 12-3-2 and an appearance in the Class AA state quarterfinals. He had 28 goals in 20 games. His hat trick against Sequoyah gave the Hustlin’ Tigers the District 4-AA championship. Head coach Jose Otero said at the time, ““I think a lot of it is natural ability, and he’s a flashy player, but that’s part of the beautiful game that we play at Howard.”
