Cade Law had college offers to play baseball and football.

He's chosen to play baseball. Law, a CPA two-sport athlete, committed Sunday to play at Vanderbilt.

Law played a key role in both CPA's baseball and football teams winning state championships during the 2020-21 school year. He was the starting quarterback for CPA's football team while also being the starting catcher for the program's baseball team.

Law, a member of the Class of 2022, said he decided a month and a half ago that he would choose to play baseball. And Vanderbilt quickly became the front runner.

"It's been a really long process to decide (what sport)," Law said. "I felt like Vandy was the best fit for me."

He made the Tennessee Sports Writers All-State teams in both sports.

Law, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound athlete, hit .333 this past season with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 37 games.

"(Vanderbilt) feels like a family," Law said. "It's a family atmosphere. Coach (Tim) Corbin is awesome. (Vanderbilt assistant) coach (Mike) Baxter is awesome. And I want to win. And they win a lot.

"It's in my backyard. My whole family can come see me. That's a big part of this. They've sacrificed a lot for me to get to this point."

Law will be the second CPA catcher to go Vanderbilt in the past five years. Former Lion Philip Clarke played at Vanderbilt during the 2018 and 2019 seasons before being drafted in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.

"I talked to him a lot," Law said. "Philip is awesome. We're going to try and work with him to get ready for Vanderbilt."
