Harpeth competed against East Hickman and Perry County last week as the three schools met for some 7-on-7 drills.
East Hickman was the host school, and Harpeth got some work in with three different quarterbacks. Sophomores Hayden Penrod, Landen Perry and Charlie Wilson all got some time under center.
Harpeth will play host to East Hickman on July 30, as both teams will take the field in full pads.
“We were pleased overall with the performance,” said Harpeth coach Doug Loope. “Our team competed well. There were a lot of people getting their feet wet, and the preseason is designed to give them experience, correct errors and reinforce the good stuff. We have some young guys who will benefit greatly.”
Jaden Petty scored a touchdown off a Penrod pass, as Perry, while also playing quarterback during the drills, caught a touchdown from Penrod, as well. Penrod also grabbed an interception while playing on defense later in the drills.
“The defense played well, too,” Loope said. “It was just good to play someone besides ourselves. Now we have some film and can also teach the new guys how to best benefit from that.”
Harpeth will play host to East Hickman on July 30 for a full scrimmage in pads, as the Indians look to get the season started Aug. 20 at Jo Byrns.
