The Dobyns-Bennett Indians proved why they are one of the top teams in Northeast Tennessee when they came calling at John Treadway Gym to take on the home-standing Elizabethton Cyclones in the team’s second contest of the season.
The Cyclones managed to stay close in the first half before the Indians pulled out the full arsenal in the second half to pull away easily down the stretch, 82-56.
Bryce VanHuss came out and lit a fire under his team by hitting three consecutive treys for nine points in the first period as Elizabethton took a 13-11 lead at the first horn.
The visitors took it up a notch in the second period by outscoring the Cyclones 26-12 to take a 37-25 lead at the break. Senior Indian guard Carter Metz went on a scoring display as he gunned in 15 points in the quarter from all over the court.
The second half was just a matter of the teams running out the final 16 minutes as the Indians went to different weapons on the team as eight Indians scored in the contest.
