(UPDATED) The McCallie swimming and diving team won six of 12 boy’s events to outscore rival Baylor by one point, 155-154 in the annual dual meet between the two programs. The Baylor girls defeated Girls Preparatory School 193-120.
Freshman Marvin Johnson set a school record in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 20.57.
He also set a McCallie pool record in the 100-yard freestyle, 44.95, and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay squad which also swam to a pool record (1:31.58).
Senior Sam Powe swam to a winning time of 48.66 in the 100-yard backstroke. Also winning for the Blue Tornado was the 200 freestyle relay team of Jackson Vineyard, Will Hanger, Max Manolache and Johnson (1:25.42) and junior Stoney Wingfield in the one-meter diving event (219.30).
Baylor's men were paced by double winner Josean Massucco (200IM & 100fly), Drew Hitchcock (200free), Sam Flack (500 free), and Charlie Han (100 breast). Baylor's winning 400 free relay was anchored by Caden Fritz, George Von Canon, Flack, and Hitchcock.
Baylor’s women’s decisive win over GPS was led by junior Lillie Boggs--winning 2 events (200IM & 100 breast) and one relay. Also pacing the Lady Raiders' win were Claire Elish (diving winner) Caroline Schenck (200 free), and Genevieve O'Neil (500 free).
Victorious relays were the 200 medley (O'Neil, Boggs, Madelyn Yates, Ellie Lydon) and the 200 free (Yates, Sugden, Lydon, Schenck). Leading the GPS effort were Ellie Taliaferro with wins in the 50free & 100free and Scout Chapin--winning the 100fly & the 100 back--as well as contributing to GPS's 400 free relay win (Chapin, Taliaferro, Bohner, Striker).
