CLARKSVILLE, TN – During a special ceremony in the CCS gymnasium on Friday, Senior Caroline Watts signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Welch College. Friends and family members, along with her coaches, teammates and fellow students gathered to witness the signing and celebrate the occasion with Watts.

Watts has attended CCS for two years and, from the start, began making an immediate impact both on and off the court. In her first season with the Lady Centurions last year, she helped lead her team to a Conference Championship and earn a Top 3 finish at the NACA National Tournament. Currently, the Lady Centurions are ranked as the No. 1 overall seed going into the TSIAA postseason tournament.

In addition to her role on the basketball court, Watts has also made a positive difference as a leader on campus. CCS Athletics Director, Cole Harper, noted, “Caroline is a stellar student whose academic achievements parallel those she has accomplished in athletics.” He added, “Her sometimes quiet, but always steady, leadership has so greatly contributed to the positive, Christ-centered culture that exists on our campus.”

Coach Trenton Hassell echoed these sentiments and remarked how he had seen Watts’ confidence and leadership abilities grow over the years. Hassell pointed out that basketball mimics life because it teaches so many important lessons that student-athletes will carry with them long after their careers have concluded.
