Playing a four-game set of games at Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville brought two wins and two losses to the Henry County High School baseball team from Thursday-Saturday. The Patriots began the set with an 11-1 loss to Clarksville Academy on Thursday. Henry County came back to down Knights Academy 5-1 on Friday. On Saturday, Dyer County pinned an 11-7 loss on Henry County before the Patriots thumped the host Pope John Paul II team 17-8. Henry County is now 3-6 on the season. The Patriots continue to travel to Middle Tennessee to play games this week. The Patriots have a 7 p.m. game tonight at Overton High School in Nashville. On Tuesday, Henry County plays at Rockvale High School near Murfreesboro in a 7 p.m. contest. Henry County meets Oakland at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Murfreesboro. Thursday’s game is against Lake Park, Ill. and the contest will be played at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro at 2:30 p.m. On Friday, Henry County takes on Station Camp at 12:30 p.m. at Wilson Central High School in Lebanon. The Patriots finally return to Paris on Saturday to entertain Montgomery Central. Play begins on Saturday with an 11 a.m. junior varsity contest followed by a 1 p.m. varsity game at the HCHS baseball field.

COUGARS 11, PATRIOTS 1

Clarksville Academy jumped on HCHS for single runs in the first, second and fourth innings before exploding for five runs in the fifth inning. The Cougars finished their scoring with three more runs in the sixth frame. Henry County scored its only run in the second inning and managed just three hits in the game. Reece Killian blasted a double while Truitt Webb and Kenson Kyle both hit singles. Webb pitched into the fifth inning, allowing six runs but just two earned runs on three hits and three walks. He had seven strikeouts. John Carter Olive got two outs in the game while giving up five earned runs on five hits and a walk. He had one strikeout. Ashton Kemp also pitched while allowing a hit.

PATRIOTS 5, KA 1

Henry County fared much better on Friday against Knights Academy. The Patriots pushed home two runs in the second while adding three in the third inning. Henry County had eight hits in the game. Knights Academy scored one run in the third stanza. Carter Hedges ripped a double while Charlie Davis delivered two hits and drove in a run. Kaine Gallimore and Peyton Charles both drove in two runs with base hits. David Fain pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits with no walks. He had two strikeouts. Davis pitched one inning, allowing one hit and recording a strikeout.

CHOCTAWS 11, PATRIOTS 7

Dyer County scored one run in the third before tacking on five in the fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth. A three-run sixth-inning rally pushed the Choctaws’ total to 11 runs. Henry County scored one run in both the first and second innings. The Patriots added three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh inning. Davis banged out three hits, including a home run and a triple. He had three runs batted in while scoring two runs. Kyle had two hits while Olive smacked a double. Davis pitched four innings, allowing six runs but no earned runs. He surrendered seven hits while walking two and fanning four. Gallimore pitched two innings, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks.

PATRIOTS 17, KNIGHTS 8

Henry County scored one run in the first inning before erupting to score 10 times in the second frame. The Patriots added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings before closing their scoring with four runs in the sixth stanza. Henry County banged out 15 hits. Pope John Paul II scored two times in the first frame while adding one run in the second, two in the third and three runs in the fourth inning. Hedges slugged a home run and knocked in two runs. Charles also homered and hit a single while driving in four runs. Olive hit a double and a single with three RBIs while Webb had two hits and two RBIs. Kyle delivered three hits and Gallimore added two hits. Charles pitched into the fourth inning allowing eight runs with four earned runs. He gave up six hits, walked two and fanned two. Logan Davidson pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. He gave up two hits, walked two and had two strikeouts.
