CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Three local girls wrestlers recently earned All-American honors.

They include Ella-Lina Gonzalez and Kohana Renner of Clarksville High School and Zahara Williams of Rossview High.

Ella-Lina Gonzalez

Two-time Tennessee state champion Ella-Lina Gonzalez of Clarksville High School competed in Colorado Springs in the junior girls 112 bracket of the USA Wrestling Girls FK National tournament. Her first three matches all ended with Gonzalez pinning her opponent. Her hot streak ended with a fall by pin in the semifinals, but she rebounded with a 5-2 victory in her first consolation match. After a second loss by pin, she finished 4th and achieved All-American status.

Kohana Renner

Kohana Renner from Clarksville High participated in the USA Wrestling event in Colorado Springs as well. She competed in the 16U 144 division, where she finished 5th. Her first match was against the eventual champion, but she went 2-1 in the consolations to finish in the top five and claim her own title of All-American.

These results by Gonzalez and Renner were the first time that girls wrestlers from Clarksville High School became All-Americans.

Zahara Williams

Rossview’s Zahara Williams, who did not see action at the end of the school season, competed in Virginia in the NHSCA tournament in the Girls 230 bracket. This was a much smaller bracket of only five wrestlers, and Williams was seeded into the lone quarterfinal match.

Williams made it into the third period before she fell by pin, finishing her tournament in 5th place. But in doing so, she too gained the title of All-American. Previously, Rossview had two female wrestlers named All-Americans: Robin Yunis and Emma Walker, who both graduated in 2020. Additionally, Montgomery Central’s Genesis Gilmore and Vivian Hurn became All-Americans in recent years.
