The Commercial Appeal's All-Metro boys and girls high school swimming teams are announced along with the six male and six female nominees for Memphis area swimmers of the year. The winners will be announced at the Memphis Area High School Sports Awards, presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans, in the spring. More details about the program coming soon.

BOYS

Mark Addison

Nominee for Boys Swimmer of the Year

MHEA, Sr.

Why chosen: Addison finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:41.31 at the state meet. He also finished 11th in the 50 freestyle in 21.79.

Zach Byars

Collierville, Sr.

Events: 200 IM, 100 backstroke

Why chosen: Byars finished 14th in the 200 IM in 1:58.76 at the state meet. He also finished 15th in the 100 backstroke in 53.07.

Johnny Heinz

Nominee for Boys Swimmer of the Year

MUS, Jr.

Events: 100 backstroke, 200 IM

Why chosen: Heinz finished 13th in the 100 backstroke in 52.77 at the state meet. He also finished 15th in the 200 IM in 1:58.95.

Noah Delk

Nominee for Boys Swimmer of the Year

MHEA, Jr.

Event: 100 breaststroke

Why chosen: Delk finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 57.04 at the state meet.

Zion James

Nominee for Boys Swimmer of the Year

MUS, Sr.

Events: 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle

Why chosen: James finished third in the 50 freestyle in 20.31 at the state meet. He also finished third in the 100 freestyle in 44.76

Walker Jones

Nominee for Boys Swimmer of the Year

Lewisburg, So.

Events: 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle

Why chosen: Jones finished fourth in the 100 butterfly in 54.18 at the MHSAA Class II state meet. He also finished sixth in the 500 freestyle in 5:06.91.

Holden Smythe

Nominee for Boys Swimmer of the Year

White Station, So.

Events: 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke

Why chosen: Smythe finished ninth in the 100 butterfly in 51.06 at the state meet. He also finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke in 58.35.

Luke Snider

MUS, Sr.

Event: 100 butterfly

Why chosen: Snider finished 15th in the 100 butterfly in 52.63 at the state meet.

Why chosen: Boles finished fifth in the 50 freestyle in 23.88 at the state meet. She also finished ninth in the 100 butterfly in 57.22.

Grace Ciaramitaro

Events: 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke

Why chosen: Ciaramitaro finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.67 at the state meet. She also finished 10th in the 100 backstroke in 57.52. 

Amber Diviney

Why chosen: Diviney finished 10th in the 500 freestyle in 5:08.73 at the state meet. 

Jenna Halliday

Why chosen: Halliday finished second in the 50 freestyle in 23.40 at the state meet. She also finished second in the 100 backstroke in 55.84.
