Lakeway Christian announced Tuesday that Randy Coffman has resigned as girls basketball coach.

Coffman was the first coach of the program after Lakeway Christian was established in 2018 and has led the Lions to four consecutive winning seasons. The team has not lost more than six games since its inaugural season in 2018-19.

In 2021-22, the Lions finished 30-6 and reached the Division II-A state quarterfinals, where they were eliminated by eventual state champion Webb-Bell Buckle.

"Coach Coffman ... has built the women's basketball program from the ground up, producing some of the strongest teams in the state," Lakeway Christian said in a release. "He leave a great trajectory for future success."

The release said Coffman is moving to a coaching position at another high school outside of the area, but his new landing spot has not been announced.

Before coming to Lakeway Christian, Coffman built one of the most dominant programs in the state at Riverdale from 2015-18. He led the Warriors to three consecutive TSSAA Class AAA state titles and left with a 102-5 record. He previously coached for 17 years at Dyersburg.
