Rockvale has hired a new boys basketball coach as Wendell Ingram will take over the Rockets after David Givens resigned following the past season.

It will be Ingram's first high school head coaching job, but he's been an assistant at his alma mater in Crockett County and was also an assistant boys coach and head girls coach at Smyrna Middle.

Ingram, 41, is a 1999 Crockett County graduate, having played for Randy Coffman prior to Coffman moving over to coach girls at Dyersburg, Riverdale, Lakeway Christian and now Page.

"My style of play, I'm a copycat of Coach Coffman," Ingram said.

Wendell Ingram has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Rockvale.

Ingram joined the military right out of high school before landing a non-faculty coaching position at Crockett County in 2004. He stayed there until 2009, when he relocated to Middle Tennessee area.

Rockvale went 8-20 this past season.

MTCS seeking boys hoops coach

After one season at the helm of the Middle Tennessee Christian boys basketball program, Aaron Morrison resigned this week.

"I am incredibly thankful to the administration at MTCS for giving me an opportunity to lead their basketball program this past year," Morrison said in a release. "The long commute, time away from family, and other opportunities have driven me to step away from this position moving forward."

Current faculty member and assistant coach Billy Snell will take over the team in the interim while an "aggressive 30-day search" for a coach is in place. He will also be assisted in the interim by longtime Oakland boys coach and Hall of Famer Randy King.

MTCS went 4-18 this past season.

Blackman hires volleyball coach

Blackman has hired Macie Pringle to take over its volleyball program.

Pringle, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Cumberland, will replace Madeline Young, who stepped down to pursue some academic goals but will remain as a teacher at the school.

"I am very excited about accepting this position at Blackman High School," Pringle said in a statement. "This program has an extensive reputation in Middle Tennessee, and I’m looking forward to continuing the expansion of the program, not only within the district, but within the community, as well."

Pringle, who has coaching experience at the college and club level, played at Independence, leading the team to a state runner-up finish in 2011. She then played at North Alabama, graduating in 2017.

Nichols steps down as Central Magnet coach

Allen Nichols, who guided Central Magnet to Class A-AA state titles in both boys and girls cross country in 2021, has resigned as a coach to take a new position.

Nichols, who was also a track coach at the school, guided the CMS boys to a Class A-AA state title in 2013 and a girls state title in 2016. He coached three individual state champions as well during his tenure.
