Baylor defeated Christian Brothers 13-10 in Memphis last Saturday and advanced to the state semifinals.
This is consecutive state semifinals appearances for the Red Raiders.
Baylor jumped out to a 3-0 after the first quarter and was up 5-3 at the half. Baylor led 8-5 with 1:53 remaining in the third quarter before Christian Brothers went on their own three-goal run and tied up the game 8-8 with 10:44 minutes to play.
Baylor responded with a four-goal run over the next 4 minutes.
Trey McDonald broke the 8-8 tie, dodging through the defense and scoring from 13 yards out for a 9-8 lead. A minute later Tyler Rice scored his fifth goal of the day off a McDonald assist and less than another minute later McDonald scored an unassisted goal again to extend the lead to 11-8.
On the next possession, Owen Trainor found Nick McKenney on the crease to make it 12-8 with about 6:30 minutes remaining.
The final goal scored was when Baylor had two-man down, goalie Lake Wheeler’s deep ball was scooped up in traffic by Gaston Carmichal who found a cutting Henry Fowler whose second goal on the day made it 13-8 with a little less than 3 minutes remaining in the game.
The defense of Watson Brown, Weston Carico, Dacorian Jones-Montgomery, Jake Murdock, Hamilton Edelen, and Lake Wheeler limited Christian Brothers' heralded offense for the entire game.
