Scotts Hill will be looking for a new baseball coach after Chuck Cooper announced he has resigned.

Cooper’s tenure ends after two seasons with the Lions who finished 13-13 this season and 32-26-1 over two seasons with a District 14-2A title in 2021.

He said the  decision to resign was due to a desire to be around his family more and have everyone be able to be at one school. That new school will be Clarksville Christian School.

"Well as great as Scotts Hill is and as much as I've enjoyed the last two years here — I try to live by a set of priorities which is God, family and then work," Cooper said. "I was presented with an opportunity where my family can all be together at this school, so now my wife and I can work together and my kids can be there."

Before he arrived at Scotts Hill in the fall of 2020, Cooper spent 16 seasons as the coach at Jackson Christian.  Cooper won over 300 games, made seven state tournament appearances and helped the Eagles reach the state title game four times with them winning the championship in 2008 and 2014.

"I owe a debt of gratitude to the people and students at Scotts Hill for rekindling a fire inside of me for coaching," Cooper said. "These are some of the best people in the world and I have loved my time here. ... I feel great about the relationships I've made and I'm excited to keep up with the baseball program at Scotts Hill and watch them continue to be successful."
