MURFREESBORO, Tenn - Lookout Valley and Coalfield had their game stopped at the start of the fifth inning due to terrible weather conditions. A downpour hit the area so quickly, there was not enough time to pull the tarp over the infield, which became a square of mud with four bases dotting the sludge. Coalfied leads Lookout Valley 7-4.
Lookout Valley scored all seven of their runs in the first inning. Waylon Burgess singled on a line drive that scored Cole Hines and Luke Treece and got Eli Justice to third.
After a few more hits and wild pitches, Coalfield finished their barrage with a Reilly Brown groundout that scored Eli Sexton.
Pitcher Jacob Winchester settled into the game after this though and held Coalfield scoreless over the next three innings. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets began their march back into the game. They scored one run in the second on a Rylan Rollins single into center.
They scored two more in the third courtesy of a Winchester double into left that scored Jaxon Qualis, and a Rylan Collins flyball that was botched by the centerfielder that scored Winchester. The Yellow Jackets added one more on a Qualis groundout before the rain stopped the game.
