Clarksville Christian School President Brad Moser has announced that Chuck Cooper, who has coached two state champion teams, will lead the Centurion baseball program and serve as varsity head coach beginning with the 2022-23 school year.

Cooper comes to CCS from Scotts Hill High School in Reagan, Tennessee, where he led the Lions to a 35-26 record from 2020-22 and earned a district championship in the 2021 season.

Prior to working at Scotts Hill, Cooper spent 13 years as head coach for the Jackson Christian Eagles. From 2007-2020, his teams posted a 307-167 record, while winning eight district championships and making seven state tournament appearances. Cooper led the Eagles to two TSSAA State Runner-Up titles (2007 and 2010) and two TSSAA State Championships (2008 and 2014).

“Clarksville Christian School is delighted to enthusiastically welcome Coach Chuck Cooper to the CCS family! His winning mentality and standard of excellence produce champions on the field,” Moser said. “More importantly, his way of coaching and mentoring inspires players to become better people in their lives outside of the game of baseball.”

Remarking on his new role with CCS baseball, Cooper said, “I am excited to join Dr. Moser and the CCS family! Using the avenue of baseball in Clarksville/Montgomery County as a tool to mold people for Christ, we will do more than just win baseball games. With God’s continued blessings, we will impact lives, create the next generation of leaders, and teach our players how to become the men, husbands, fathers and workers that God made them to be.”

CCS Director of Athletics Cole Harper commented on the school’s ambitious plans for the baseball program. “Under the direction of a proven leader like Coach Cooper, we will begin working immediately to strengthen our program from the foundational to the most elite levels,” Harper said. He added that the quality of facilities the school will have in the newly announced Killebrew community “will allow CCS to be competitive locally, regionally and nationally.”

Cooper has accumulated an overall record of 342-193 in his 18 years of high school coaching. He and Dawn Holmes have been married for 20 years, and they have two children, Kenzie (15) and Korbin (12).
