Before he ever played a game at Blackman, Michigan State football commitment Demitrius Bell has returned to McGavock where he has previously played for his senior year of high school.

Bell transferred from McGavock to Blackman in February but confirmed to The Daily News Journal on Monday that he was back with the Raiders and had de-enrolled from Blackman. He did not immediately comment on the transfer after confirming changing schools.

On Monday he posted a video on Twitter of him playing 7-on-7 with McGavock. Second-year coach Frederick Burnette confirmed he had re-enrolled at McGavock.

"He’s going to bring that next level speed, and can provide a big-play touchdown," Burnette said.

Blackman coach Chandler Tygard added, "I wish him the best of luck."

Bell started getting a flood of offers after enrolling at Blackman and he committed to Michigan State in early June.

He is currently ranked 10th in Tennessee in the 2023 class by 247Sports Composite, which lists him as a 4-star prospect and the No. 23 athlete nationally.

He also has offers from SEC schools Tennessee, LSU, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Kentucky and South Carolina, as well as Michigan, Penn State, West Virginia, Boston College, Memphis.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Bell had 35 receptions for 498 yards and seven touchdowns at McGavock last season while also rushing and passing for a TD. He was slotted to play both wide receiver and defensive back for Blackman before leaving the team.

He would have helped a Blaze defense that was one of the worst in the area last season but will add more two-way players this season.

Blackman's offense was one of the tops in the area a season ago, averaging 33.5 points a game.

The Blaze not only return quarterbacks Jack Risner and Peyton Thomas and highly recruited receivers Justin Brown and Ben Marshall, but also added WR/DB Jacob Page, an Ensworth transfer, in the offseason. Brown, Marshall and Page are all ranked in the top 40 in the state by 247Sports Composite.
