Updated with the student athlete’s physical qualifications and position.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The recruiting process for Clarksville Academy student athlete Eddie Ricks III finally came to an end this week.

Ricks announced on Tuesday he has committed to Morehead State University to continue his education and basketball career.

According to Max Preps, Ricks is listed at 6-foot-7, and his versatility allows him to play a variety of positions including shooting guard and small forward. He averaged 21.6 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game last season. Also, Ricks impacted the game just as much with his defensive capability for the Cougars. He averaged 1.4 steals per game and 1.1 blocks per game.

Ricks helped lead Clarksville Academy to a state championship appearance in 2021 under former head coach Tyler Hickman. As a result of his production and impact he had on his team, Ricks was named a Mr. Basketball award finalist for his district.

Morehead State is coming off a season where they finished with an overall record of 23-11. This season, their roster is made up of a combined total of seven seniors and graduate students. Ricks will help fill the void the upperclassmen leave behind when the recruit steps on campus next year.
